Spring, Vidalia anticipates the harvest of Georgia’s Official State Vegetable, the internationally known, Vidalia Sweet Onion. Since 1978, we have celebrated this special occasion with an array of fun-filled events. You and your family are invited to share in the natural beauty and color of Spring in Vidalia during the 26th Annual Vidalia Onion Festival.

The 2nd annual Onion Chef’s Cookoff. Teams of local cooks compete in a one hour cookoff. Onions are the focal point, but they do not have a clue what other ingredients will be provided. 7:00pm                    Vidalia Onion Cookoff and Tasting Vidalia Community Center • off of Highway 280, near Shoney’s

Onion dish entries should arrive at 6:00pm; judging at 6:15pm; public tasting at 7pm. Pre-registration required. Entry deadline is Friday April 4. Show off your culinary skills and creative recipes prepared using Vidalia Onions. Entry categories include: Appetizers, Side Dish, Main Dish, and Miscellaneous.  $10.00 entry fee per dish. A youth-geared program. The initiative creates an environment in which student-athletes, coaches, officials, and spectators are committed to the true spirit of competition through respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership, and sportsmanship.
