SEPTEMBER

Thursday, September 28th will be our annual PICNIC IN THE PARK “MEMBERSHIP DRIVE” KICK-OFF @ 6:00 P.M.  Invitations will be sent to members and prospective members this year.  The Vidalia chapter of DAR will be invited for a special ceremony to dedicate the cupola, given to the City of Vidalia by the DAR erected on the Meadows Street Park Gazebo.

 

OCTOBER

Fall pole-decorating contest in progress.  The theme FALL/ THANKSGIVING DECOR.  Call for assignment of lamp post or area @ 537-8033.

 

TRICK OR TREAT. Tuesday, October 31st Halloween day from 5:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. in the Downtown area.  The first 250 children that come to the Meadows St. park will receive a special Trick or Treat Bag.

 

COSTUME CONTEST    6:15 in the Meadows St. Park

PUMPKIN CONTEST      6:15 in the Meadows St. Park (pumpkins will be displayed the week after on the steps of City Hall.)

Fall post “decorating” contest winners to be announced 6:15.  After Trick or Treating, visit FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH’S FALL FESTIVAL 6 –8 P.M.

 

NOVEMBER

Veterans Day Picnic, Nov. 11th @ 12:00 in the Meadows St. Park.  We will honor our Veterans with special guests, food and entertainment.

 

Christmas Open House, Nov. 19th from 2-5:00 P.M.  Merchants will be open Downtown with refreshments and entertainment.  Stroll the shops and enjoy the magic of DOWNTOWN IS WHAT’S UP!  Something new this year, our merchants will be giving out a letter to Santa for the kids to fill out and put in the mailbox of Santa’s Workshop.  Santa will be making visits during the season to pick up the letters.  Join in the fun for the entire family.

 

November 27th a special lighting ceremony will light all the streets at 6:00 P.M.  Come downtown and join us in singing Christmas carols on the street.  Everyone is welcome.  Bring your children to Santa’s Workshop to have pictures made with Santa.

 

 

 

 

DECEMBER    

Vidalia Christmas Parade, Saturday Dec. 2nd at 11 A.M.  This will be a day of fun for the entire family.  All merchants will be open with sales for everyone.  Remember... BE A HOMETOWN SHOPPER.

 

Saturday December 9th is our Christmas festivities day from 6:00-8:30 P.M.  We will kick off the season with a special Christmas reading at Cambridge Books beginning at 6:00.  Carriage rides touring the Downtown area from the Meadows Street Park will be available.  Santa will be at his workshop along with refreshments provided by Downtown Vidalia Association, Main Street under the gazebo.  Again, merchants are encouraged to stay open for your convenience to shop.

 

If you can’t make these events, don’t worry, Santa will be making frequent visits from November 27th through December 24th.  We will post his arrivals as we get them.

All events will be advertised on radio, newspaper and local TV.  Let’s enjoy a festive Holiday season together.  Our Downtown area will be decorated again this year and we anticipate many visitors.
