J. D. Dickerson, a K-2 public school, with an enrollment of 600 students features:

• a curriculum designed to meet both individual ability needs as well as essential social skills;
• advanced technology including a full Josten's Computer Lab, a GSAMS lab featuring live electronic field-trips, a networked media center and networked classrooms, a satellite broadcast system, and a closed circuit broadcast system;
• an afterschool care program available for all students with tutorial and enrichment activities;
• a full day reading tutorial program;
• an active parent teacher organization;
• special education programs including a LEAP program for academically gifted students;
• a Professional Development School in conjunction with Brewton Parker College offering exposure to student teachers and practicum students; and,
•  42 certified teachers and 11 instructional paraprofessionals.
